Andy Crook

has created over fifty pieces of work for theatre companies, colleges and drama schools in England and in Ireland. He likes to work collaboratively with people whether that is with a text, an adaptation of a text or the creation of an entirely new piece of work. His work is visual and rooted in the actors' physicality. Creating an ensemble is fundamental to his process. It is borne out of structured improvisation, development of technique and play. He draws on the actors' response to material and on their own creative spirit.  He believes in the imaginative power of both actor and audience and gives room to both.

"He has a huge breadth of both knowledge and experience as a practitioner, framed within a clear and articulate theatre aesthetic.  In working as a director or trainer or deviser, he combines a tremendous sense of fun and creative invention with rigour and wit."

Dr Ger Fitzgibbon, former Head of Drama & Theatre Studies, University College, Cork

"For me the things that struck me when observing Andy at work during the rehearsal process of Wish I Were Here were: how open he was, how interesting and challenging he made the journey, how hard he works, and last but not least how much fun it was. "

Rhona Trench Head BA in Performing Arts at IT Sligo.
